Description

D'oh! Gonk the ape has kidnapped Marge and only you as Homer can rescue her! This is Jim Kitchen's first platform game and you'll be dodging barrels, jumping planes and facing many other challenges while you try to get back the most famous mother in Springfield.

Each level of the game takes on a different challenge homer must overcome in order to save his blue haired wife. The game begins with an audio homage to Donkey Kong, one of the most famous arcade games of all time, as Homer runs through the jungle hurdling barrels. There then follows a test of your timing jumping between planes, some high speed skiing and shooting action, a logic puzzle, underground maze and even a car chase. The arcade elements are actually rather tougher than you'd expect, which gives the hole game a nice sense of challenge, though nothing is too difficult to overcome with a little practice

With a variety of challenges, Awesome Homer is definitely unique experience. plus, when you finally rescue Marge from the hairy paws of Gonk you can play any level of the game you like, all accompanied by some very quirky and unique sound effects and music. .

As with all of Jim's games, Awsome homer uses Sapi to make the game self voicing, and is entirely free.

As all of Jim’s games install into the same folder you’ll need to install The winkit installer found here, which also adds many of the visual basic dependencies necessary to run not only Jim’s games, but many other’s on modern Windows, though if you have those already you can just download the above file.

Brendan smith, aka Bcs9, and Lauren Downie from the forum have recorded an audio walkthru of several levels of the game which can be Heard here

whether your a simpsons fan, a Donkey Kong fan, or just a fan of very unique games, this one is certainly worth checking out.

Jim Kitchin sadly passed away on August the 2nd, 2015. To learn more about the late great Jim Kitchin and his vast collection of games, you can Visit the Kitchinsinc page on the Audiogames archive site Which also contains one giant installer so that you can get all of Jim's games in one handy package. Goodbye Jim, you will be sorely missed.
